THE PIER
From a distance, the beacon guided.
Now, directly behind me, the beacon is unseen.
Its revolving light has nothing to shine on.
For before me, darkness.
Behind me, a city stretches, to the east and to the west.
The city lights mark a place of darkness, where man has chosen to live.
I stand here forgiven, my back turned to my world.
My face turned to an expanse.
Encapsulated by silence, my attention is funneled to that which remains....
The whisper of the waves....
The sting of the cold....
The power of a friendship....
And the love of the Father....
Yes, I stood here before.
But all that has changed since then is my heart.
The emptiness envelops.
Eternity enthralls.
Infinity is nearly defined.
There it is, before me.
I focus on my Father.
And I pray to Him.
And He hears me.
As He has always heard me.
