Ephesians 6:1-3 says: "Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right, 'Honor your mother and father that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.'"

My parents make these verses a delight to heed (not that I am perfect at it). I am in continual debt to the guidance, unconditional love, and provision that they have given me, and continue to give me, in abundance. I love you two!

My dad, teaching a younger version of myself the art of fishing in Montana. I never did get that hang of it. The picture was taken many years ago, obviously, but my dad looks about the same today. The gray hair has been with him ever since I can remember.

My wonderful mother, arguably the nicest person I know (I do not say that lightly!). Again, that is a younger version of me, hanging on for dear life lest I fall off the horse.

And I have one older sister, Kirsten. She is a pet-lover, an accomplished swimmer and triathelete, and is involved in cancer research with a biotechnology company. On top of that, I know of few people who are better with kids than Kirsten.

A recent picture of my mother hiking in Eastern Washington, an activity we enjoy together as often as possible. Mom, Doug, Dad at my graduation. They sure look good, don't they?
